Get Everything in WritingGetting everything in writingIf you are buying together, and certainly if you are not married or in a Civil (same sex) Partnership, then you need to ensure you sign a formal contract setting out the way you hold the property between you.You may hold the legal estate - basically the name on the title deeds - jointly but there are many variations as to how you hold the beneficial estate - basically the right to sale proceeds, income and profits. Ideally you need to address this when you buy and to have the position clearly set out in writing and signed.
