Resolving workplace issues. That's what we do.

Employment for business

The challenges you face requires a determined and proactive approach to achieve the best possible solution. Our experienced Employment Law team provides clear and pragmatic advice to help employers achieve the best possible solution to any workplace legal problem.

We recognise that there are a number of ways to resolve most situations – and because we act for both employers and employees, we have a 360 degree perspective of any dispute and can pre-empt issues before they arise.

Our ability to deliver effective, clear and practical advice enables our clients to achieve their objectives and to avoid disputes where possible – so, if you have a workplace issue then our team is here to give you the best possible advice.

  • All businesses are required by law to issue each employee with a statement of employment particulars, more commonly known as an Employment Contract, within two months of the employee commencing employment.

    more

  • All companies encounter problems with staff members at one time or another, so it is essential to have written rules in place that you can refer to. We are experienced in helping employers to draw up and implement disciplinary and grievance procedures, to help confront and deal with issues such as poor performance and absence - quickly and with confidence.

    more

  • No business or member of staff wants to be involved in an Employment Tribunal, but sometimes there is no other option when disagreements cannot be resolved via mediation or negotiation.

    more

  • All businesses, no matter how big or small, require HR and employment law advice from time to time. Having access to professional support allows you to resolve workplace issues quickly and with minimum disruption. We offer both fixed fee packages and pay-as-you-go arrangements, for immediate advice on all HR issues - including disciplinary and grievance matters, the drafting of employee letters, or key changes to employment legislation.

  • Pensions
Our team has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to advising businesses, trustees and individuals on their legal obligations and on entitlements relating to pension schemes. We will ensure that you are always kept abreast of changes in the law, as well as providing you with advice and solutions to make sure your scheme remains compliant. We can also advise on the de-risking of schemes, including buy ins and buy outs, closing a pension to future accrual, or the winding up of a scheme.
  • Needing to lose staff through business reorganisation or redundancy can be a stressful and difficult time. A well-planned redundancy programme will help to minimise the impact on the workforce, which in turn will limit disruption to your business. We can guide you through the process and the steps necessary to comply with your legal obligations - working on a practical level and advising you on how best to make changes in a fair and effective manner.

  • Anyone who operates a successful business knows that it is vital to protect products, processes and ideas in order to achieve continued success. Protection of legitimate business interests is possible through the use of properly drafted restrictive covenants.

    more

  • When a business is bought or sold, or a contract to provide services is lost or won, there are usually implications for employees.

  • Settlement agreements
A Settlement Agreement is a legally binding way of concluding claims or potential claims between an employer and employee. If the working relationship between your business and a member of staff breaks down, and the time has come to end their employment, we can work with you to consider all options - and give you a realistic assessment of an appropriate exit package, as an alternative option to a formal process. We can then advise and support you through the process of offering the settlement agreement - to end the employment and protect you against Employment Tribunal Claims.
  • Training
We provide bespoke and affordable training courses on employment law. These are ideal for businesses that are keen to give their managers the knowledge and confidence to handle any issues that may arise with their workforce. Courses can be delivered in-house or at our offices - and involve tutorials on issues such as how to handle redundancies or disciplinary matters properly, within the law.
