A sunny May Bank Holiday saw a day that will surely go down in Geoffrey Leaver history with victory for Team 1 (Rob Green, Sam Seaford, Stuart Snelson & Miles Thornhill) in the corporate relay challenge!
Miles set the foundation with a strong opening leg and importantly positioning himself close to the front taking just 30 seconds to get across the start line. Rob reluctantly took off his ray bans and knuckled down for a tough 7 mile stint in the late morning sun. Stuart then took over at halfway and pushed home their advantage before Sam crowned the glory with superb sprint finish. Their combined time was 3 hours 37 minutes and 45 seconds.
Team 2 ( Neena Jakhu, Anthony Johnson, Sorrell Sachdev & Ken Stangoe) also put in a great effort. A solid start from Anthony Johnson before with Neena and Sorrell’s fantastic achievement of running further than they had ever done before with just over 7 miles each. Ken then brought the team home with a speedy finish into the stadium. Their combined time was 4 hours 43 minutes 48 seconds.
Nav Gill took part in the half marathon and completed it in 2 hours 26 minutes and 2 seconds.
All in all it was a great day out. We also exceed our fundraising target of £1,000!
