When a business is bought or sold to another firm, or a contract to provide services lost or won, there are usually implications for employees.

The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) protect the terms and conditions of employment of staff facing such situations and, if they apply, will automatically transfer rights and obligations from one business to another. They may also impose a duty to inform and consult with employees regarding the transfer.

Working closely with our colleagues in the company commercial department, our Employment Law team can advise on the implications of any business transaction, allowing our clients peace of mind that the best interests of their firm and its employees are being taken care of.
