When we lose someone close to us, it can be difficult in coming to terms with dealing with the legal requirements associated with this sad event.
At Geoffrey Leaver we understand and are experienced in helping you with administering the deceased's estate, their Will, if they have one, as well as helping in saving Inheritance Tax where possible.
We can also help in mediating with any disputes that unfortunately can arise after someone has died.
The support and advice required can vary for each client, so we work with sensitivity and care to provide you with the level of support you feel is appropriate.
Our services include
- Administering the estate
- Obtaining the Grant (i.e. Grant of Probate where there is a Will or Grant of Letters of Administration where there is no Will)
- Liaising with the Inland Revenue
- Paying the Inheritance Tax
- Transferring/selling the assets
- Distributing the assets
- Paying any other liabilities from the estate
As a trusted partner, we are often appointed as the Executors of estates, however we also advise:
- Executors of estates – Executors duties are onerous and we can provide guidance on how best to protect the Executor's personal liability
- Beneficiaries of estates and in particular circumstances we can help them save Inheritance Tax
We provide a service where you can trust us to complete the work professionally and rely on us to help you to manage the process as gently as possible.
To discuss how we can help you please email Nick Scott or call us on 01908 692769.
