Commercial Litigation Paralegal

We are looking to recruit a Paralegal to work in our Commercial Litigation Department.

The Paralegal will provide a support service in the areas of Debt Collection, Insolvency and Commercial Disputes.

Duties include:

Debt Recovery

  • Negotiating terms of settlement
  • Drafting Orders, interim applications and witness statements
  • Conducting telephone mediations and telephone hearings
  • Instructing and liaising with agents, conducting proceedings all the way to trial and instructing Counsel

Commercial Litigation

  • Assisting a major client with various claims for breach of contract which includes:

    1. drafting urgent applications;
    2. drafting witness statements;
    3. conducting telephone mediations and telephone hearings;
    4. preparing bundles for Counsel and attendance at court with Counsel; 
    5. advocacy experience in smaller claims • Interviewing and advising clients

  • Preparing winding up proceedings in debt recovery cases
  • Acting for numerous claimants in debt recovery proceedings and possession claims
  • Extensive research on all areas of litigation

To support Partners and other Fee Earners within the Commercial Litigation team and manage a caseload from initial instruction through to trial and billing.

To participate in the marketing of the firm, under the direction of the Partners.

The successful candidate will be qualified to either FILEX level or have a degree in Law, with excellent communication, organisational and team working skills. A good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook is essential. Previous paralegal experience would be ideal. Experience of County Court procedures and Litigation and a good knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules is required, preferably in a debt recovery or personal injury environment.
